Well, yesterday was our "grand opening" It was very slow as we expected. I had one table, Matt had one table plus drinks for a meeting downstairs. We have a couple more slow days ahead of us before the holiday crowd comes. This will give us a chance to get the computer system down and the menu before things get too hectic. We are surprised at what a good crew we have to work with. Most of us are a little bit older, mature, responsible, ready to work....you don't always find that in the restaurant industry. Both of our bosses are named Dave as well as our head chef...we also have two Matt's, a Brian, a Ryan. We need nick names! :-)
I sat and talked with an older gentleman yesterday who has been up here since October in his vacation home. His wife passed away this fall and he came up here to think and reflect. He is almost 85!!!!!! Still ski's a little bit. We had a very nice visit . I even got him a phone book so he could try and get a lady date for dinner. No luck...I told him I'd keep my eye out for him this winter. He is going to come back for the Crazy Austrian brothers show. This is our famous band that has been playing since the 80's. They have quite the following and play 5 nights a week at our restaurant. Tonight is their first night and I can't wait to see what this much talked about act is all about.
We are all settled into our hotel room. There are only two drawers so our clothes are piled up in the corner on chairs. Other then that it is nice. We have a little make shift kitchen, warm water and it is very quite. Our cell phone does not get reception in our room but works everywhere else.
We are hoping this weekend's storm brings a lot of snow.
We don't have to be at work until 4:30 tonight so we are going to go for our morning walk and then explore a little bit. We our scoping out second job options. Hopefully this will be our last opportunity to go for a walk without the need for snowshoes. :-)
