So week 6 is over, week 7 begins. Our poor guests have had weather worthy of Seattle except it was warm. I have decided that there is no normal cruise week. Matt and I had a very nice work schedule this week and were hoping to catch a tour in both Maui and Kona but the rain was so bad in Maui that we stuck close to home and we didn't even tender in to Kona. It was a sea day because the waves were so bad they didn't want to tender in. The Pride of America (not our ship) actually pulled out of Maui early on their overnight leaving 300+ passengers and some crew behind that they put up in a hotel. The waves were coming over the break wall and smashing the ship into the dock. Needless to say, we picked up extra shifts and didn't do much recreating. We figured it was our last week to "play" before we worked a lot over the the holidays as our passenger count just gets higher every week. It was a lot of crew's Aloha week as well. Dec 10 is the last day to leave for the holiday season and our department alone is losing 50 people. Several crew had special activities planned for their last week in Hawaii, but were canceled because of rain. Quite a few of them were a slight bit bitter over having to work triples but what can you do????
Yesterday was our last night in Alizar. We are moving up to speciality tonight. We are going to work in Paniolo's which is the Tex/Mex restaurant. No more tablecloths and only two pieces of silverware on the tables!!!!!!! We are going to train for a week and then our manager, Jonny Q is going to put Matt and I together. We will be able to keep all of the tip money from liquor and drink sales. We have only gotten two paychecks and have money in savings. We are excited about that and feel like we will be able to meet our financial goals in this venture of ours.
Trust Christmas decorating is coming along for everyone. The ship is decorated nicely.
