The Breakfast Room

It has been awhile since we showed you any pictures of our lodge! We got a little sidetracked with our side trips! :-p This is one of my favorite rooms in the lodge. It has a great view and the sun warms it up nicely in the morning. We serve breakfast here from 7-9. When the weather is not nice, we also use it for lunch. Our breakfast is fairly standard, eggs, pancakes, french toast, granola, ham, bacon, sausage. Our breakfast cook is also the pastry, dessert, chocolate, homemade bread and who knows what else cook. Her homemade cinnamon swirl bread makes the best french toast! I look forward to berry crepe day as that is my favorite special of the week and a guaranteed good breakfast day.
All of those brass items that surround the fireplace are antiques. The cowboy with the umbrella is just one of the many sculptures that are around the lodge. As a side note, those "antique" lamps with the black shades are all over the lodge, a custom order I think. When we opened, none of them worked!!!!! These two still don't but I think the ones is guests rooms have been fixed. Don't think that company will be getting any more orders from us!
So the big events this week were a fundraiser event for the art council in Steamboat. They brought a group of 24 out here to tour all of the paintings and other art in the lodge. It was a big success and the guests had a fabulous time.
Hunting has officially started and I saw my first dead elk in the back of a pickup truck. 6 lbs shy of making the 300 club! We gave a ride to a hunter this morning on our way to town. It did strike me as a little strange that we were picking up an old man with a crossbow and arrows on a dirt road in the middle of no where, but what is crazy in Salem, is normal here!
It is also our 5 year wedding anniversary so to all of you who were at our wedding, yes, that was 5 years ago! Crazy!
Happy September everyone! We are home in less then 2 months now!!!!

Congrats kiddos :) Hope you had a nice 5 year celebration. Do you think you can send one of those hunters our way to kill the deer that munched it's way through our gardens? :)
